7 Nations Celtic Club

Who we are...

Irish Abbey

The club is a voluntary, private, non-profit, non-sectarian, and non-partisan organization created for social, charitable, and educational purposes. Our goal is to celebrate, promote and preserve our common Celtic inheritance through educational, artistic and social means. Our mission is to promote public awareness and appreciation of the influence of Celtic culture through education, research, and the collection and dissemination of information; to serve as a forum for the collection and sharing of information concerning the effect of Celtic art, literature, music, and other cultural influences on our present society; and to encourage personal growth through education and social interaction. It is our goal to hold educational, artistic and entertainment events highlighting Celtic culture throughout the year... and, of course, to have fun while doing so!

Our Membership and Our Meetings...

Anyone who appreciates the influence of Celtic culture, or who would like to learn more, is welcome to participate, regardless of ethnic origin. The Club currently meets at 6:00 p.m., on the fourth Thursday of each month, at PortCity Cafe and Pub, 424 Chillicothe Street, Portsmouth, Ohio. You do not have to be able to trace your family tree back to an ancient ancestor from one of the 7 Celtic Nations. All who are interested in Celtic culture are welcome to be part of the organization. Regular dues paying members are eligible for election and service as Club officers, and as members of our Board of Directors. Affiliate members do not pay dues, and, while affiliate members may not vote in Club elections, or hold elective office, they may actively participate in many other Club activities, and may serve as volunteers for our various Club events. Annual dues are $12 per person, or $20 per household. All proceeds from dues, and any sources of revenue, are used to support approved Club activities and Board authorized expenditures.

Special Club Events...

The Club sponsors many social and educational events throughout the year, including special guest lectures, travel discussions, and enjoying ethnic Celtic cuisine. We also present regular music “Session Nights” featuring both accomplished musicians and those less skilled, who want to learn more about contemporary and traditional Celtic musical styles. Conducting regular celebrations in recognition of traditional Celtic holidays, notable persons and important events, including the Club’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, are also a large part of our educational and social mission. An annual Celtic Festival has also been discussed. All these activities require the active participation of a large number of enthusiastic members and volunteers. We’d welcome your participation.
